Outlaw

Quote of the day - "Sometimes life leaves you only two options. Live or Run. I choose to Live, Love, Dance, Learn and maybe even Cry sometimes." - Shalom Ikhena (My baby sister, check out her blog here :)).

Hey guys! Hope everyone's week is off to a great start. The weather as of late has been quite the tease - truly bipolar, which makes me even more excited for Spring, as I'm getting tired of these cold winter days lol.
I decided to inject an unusual color combination (unusual for me) into my outfit just the other day. Regardless of the season, a little bit of mustard always puts me in a bright mood. :)

I paired this up with my dramatic OG Lion Boy's Tank-top by Boshok.

    --Outfit--
   Army Green Sweater - H & M (old)
   Mustard-Yellow Jeans - JCPenney
OG Lion Boy's Tank-top - Boshok (similar one here)
Black Beanie - Hand made by yours truly. :)
   Combat Boots - Payless

Banana Walnut Bread

Hey guys! It's been a while since I did a blog-post on food, and so, I'm really excited about this one. I particularly love this recipe because it is easy (which is always a plus), moist and flavorful! :)

Total Time: 3 hours 10 minutes
Prep Time: 2 hours
Cook: 1 hour 10 minutes
Level: Easy
Yield: One Loaf
Meal Type: Breakfast

    Ingredients
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) of unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1 tablespoon of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup of walnuts (I didn't toast mine, but you are free to if you prefer it toasted).
    Directions

    Step 1: Preheat the oven to 325 degrees, and butter a 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan (I used a medium baking pan,
not sure what the exact measurements are).
Step 2: Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until it is light and fluffy, and then add the eggs
one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Step 3: Mash the bananas with a fork in a small bowl. Mix in milk and cinnamon.

Step 4: In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda (optional) and salt.

Step 5: Add the banana mixture to the creamed mixture and stir properly until combined. Add the dry
ingredients from the previous step, and mix everything all up until the flour disappears.
Step 6: Stir in walnuts and mix properly.

Step 7: Pour batter into pan and bake for 1 hour 10 minutes, until a toothpick or knife comes out clean.
Remove the pan and allow it set for 15 minutes.

And you're done! Let me know if you have any questions/comments/suggestions lol. I love improving my
  favorite recipes!

The Hausa Bad Guy Tee ♥

Quote of the day: "All dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them. If you can dream it, you can do it." - Walt Disney.

Hey guys! A brief history on who the Hausa people are - They are one of the largest ethnic groups in West Africa, and are chiefly located in the Sahelian areas of northern Nigeria. Most of you might know this already, but I grew up in northern Nigeria, Kano state to be specific, and so when I saw this t-shirt on Allen & Fifth there was no way I could resist. I must say, I dey gbaski this shirt die! (had to switch to pidgin to express my excitement haha), which means "I am really loving this shirt!" in English.. :)

Hausa Bad Guy Tee - Allen&Fifth (thanks for the tee :) )
   Leather Shorts - H&M (old)
Edo Traditional Coral Hand Beads - Got them back home :)
  Leopard-print Heels - Payless

 Thanks for reading guys!

It's Black, It's White

Quote of the Day: "Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement." - Golda Meir

Hey guys! Believe it or not, I was jamming to 'Black or White' by Michael Jackson (one of my favorite artists of all time - RIP MJ) when I put this outfit together. Hence, the title post haha. I don't normally wear red lipstick, but I thought I'd give it a try. What do you guys think? :)
